A body of a Danish national is still on the Makalu base camp.
October 29, Sankhuwashaba: A body of Thorvajan Adderson a Danish national who died at sherpini-col above the Makalu base camp on October 21 is still on sherpini-col .
He died on sherpini-col(6,146m) above Makalu base camp due to heavy snowfall according to Niraj Karki.
The body of Thorvajan, a Danish national, was buried in the snow at Sherpanicol at an altitude of 6,200 meters, Karki said.
Karki said that despite two attempts to remove Thorvajan’s body by helicopter, it was not completed due to snow.
Karki said that the attempt failed to reach the spot by helicopter on Thursday. Nine others trapped in the snow have been rescued by helicopter.
A team of 10 people including three foreign tourists had gone to the base camp towards Makalu via Taplejung on October 11.
According to the local newspaper, he was a climber attempting to climb World’s fifth highest mountain Makalu but the Nepal Department of Tourism has not released any data about the Makalu expedition permit.
