December 28, 2022: Lukla Airport is one of the busiest airports in Nepal but now there are only a few flights per day. Tenzing Hillary Airport, where there were dozens of flights and landings on the day, now there is only a limited number of flights a day after the end of the tourist season.
According to Sagar Kadel of the Civil Aviation Authority of Lukla, the number of flights has decreased with the end of the tourist season and the onset of cold weather.
Due to the lack of passengers, airline companies have reduced their flight schedules, and even on the scheduled flights, they are forced to carry cargo due to the lack of passengers.
As Khumbu residents go elsewhere due to the cold, the movement of people in the area is also low.
