February 23, Jomsom: Perry, a 51-year-old man from California, USA, who had been living in Mustang secretly for a long time even after his visa to Nepal expired, was found dead at Hotel Red House in Kagbeni.His body was brought to the district hospital in Jomsom after the hotel staff informed the police about his death.
Perry, an American citizen, came to Nepal on November 5, 2019. He had renewed his visa for 4 months and 13 days to stay in Nepal four times. His last visa expired on March 18, 2020. He had not renewed his visa since then. He entered Mustang on December 10, 2021.
The body of an American citizen who was found dead last Sunday evening has been sent to Pokhara for postmortem. According to the District Police Office, Mustang, the body of JOE l Perry was sent to Pokhara from Mustang due to lack of necessary equipment for postmortem at District Hospital Jomsom. His body was kept at the District Hospital, Jomsom for two days.
After the foreign national Perry was found dead, the District Police Office Mustang had written to the US Embassy in Kathmandu through the Foreign Division of the Police Headquarters to take necessary action. According to Police Inspector Ashish Adhikari, the US Embassy has given permission to the Mustang Police to bury the body following Nepal’s legal process. After the embassy’s letter, the police had written to the Mustang District Hospital for postmortem. According to the Inspector General of Police, the body of American citizen Perry was sent to Pokhara along with the security personnel as the post-mortem could not be conducted in the Mustang despite the request of the police to conduct the post-mortem.
