December 17, 2022: The rope fixing team on Cho Oyu has completed their first rotation. Kristin Harila and Adriana Brownlee reached Camp 1 after reaching Camp 1 they returned to base camp. Other Sherpas are fixing ropes to the higher camp.
For Harila and Brownlee, it is their first acclimatization round on the mountain. Adrina Brownlee wrote
Yesterday Kristin and I reached camp 1 for our first rotation and to deposit equipment whilst our sherpa team reached 6,500m to fix lines and deposit ropes for further fixing tomorrow! Everyone was so excited to finally set foot on this beautiful mountain, the smiles were infectious . The day after tomorrow Kristin and I will set off again to acclimatize to camp 3.
