March 28, Kathmandu: A committee has been formed to monitor and facilitate mountaineering in the current spring season. The department has stated that a committee has been formed under the coordination of the director of the tourism department Surya Prasad Upadhyaya with the representatives of the concerned bodies.

According to the department, the committee will be active in making necessary coordination and facilitation in making various activities related to mountaineering in the Khumbu region regular, dignified, and systematic in the spring of 2022.

Kishor Adhikari Major of the Nepalese Army, Deputy Superintendent of Police Tarkaraj Pandey, and Nisha Adhikari from the Everest Climbers Association have been appointed as members of the committee. In addition, one representative from the Himalayan Rescue Association and one from Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee has been appointed as a member.

Survey Officer Khim Lal Gautam will be the member secretary. In the spring, there is a large crowd of climbers in the Everest region. According to the department, permission for climbers has already started.
