June 21, 2023: Nepal Oil Corporation has reduced the price of aviation fuel, resulting in a decrease in airfares as well. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, the new fare rates will be implemented from Wednesday.
As per the authority, the fare from Kathmandu to Simara, which is a short distance away, has decreased by up to 90 rupees, while the fare from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi, which is a longer distance, has decreased by up to 445 rupees. On Tuesday, the Corporation had fixed the domestic aviation fuel price at 150 rupees per liter after reducing it by 10 rupees. The Corporation has reduced the price of aviation fuel by 6.3 percent.
According to the authority, a “fuel surcharge” of 79.79 rupees per minute is levied on airfares. Based on this, the cost of fuel for a flight from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi would be only 6,625 rupees. The flight duration from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi is considered to be 83.09 minutes.
Under the new rates, the airfare will be reduced by 340 rupees to Mountain Flight, 300 rupees to Bhadrapur, 240 rupees to Viratnagar, 125 rupees to Janakpur, 160 rupees to Pokhara, 325 rupees to Nepalgunj, and 210 rupees to Bhairahawa.
