April 17, Kathmandu: The engine of an aircraft flying from Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan Airport to Lukla’s Tenzing Hillary Airport has failed. The Summit Air flight bound for Lukla was returned to Kathmandu after an engine failure and landed safely.

Flight number SMA 407 took off from Kathmandu at 11:47 am on Sunday. The aircraft was diverted to Kathmandu after the left-side engine failed during the flight.

The aircraft carrying 15 passengers and three crew members made an emergency landing in Kathmandu, airport sources said. The airport was closed for about 10 minutes.

According to airport sources, all the passengers and crew members on board are safe.
