May 17,2023:A climber hailing from Moldova lost his life at Camp IV on Mount Everest today. The climber, identified as Victor Brinza, tragically succumbed to illness while stationed at South Col, according to sources at the base camp. Rescuers are now underway to bring Brinza’s body back to Kathmandu. There are no details about the cause of death, or whether he was on the way up or down from the summit, the outfitter only reported that the team had reached Camp 3 last Friday.
The news of Victor Brinza’s demise marks another grim addition to the mounting death toll on Everest this season. As of now, this season the mountain has claimed the lives of six individuals.
