Climbers climbing the world’s tallest peak, Mount Everest, will now need to bring back their waste to the base camp during decent.

Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality a municipality of the Everest region has taken action, expressing concern that the Himalayan region is becoming increasingly polluted due to the waste left behind by climbers and other forms of litter.

These wastes a being gathered in the upper region which causes a serious effect on the mountain environment.

During a meeting held on January 22nd, the municipality’s chief, Sherpa, informed that a new decision has been made to further clean up the Everest region.
