February 04, Lumbini: Gautam Buddha Airport is closed. The airport was closed on Friday due to problems in the tower due to rain, wind, and lightning near the airport. According to Govinda Prasad Dahal, general manager of the airport, the tower was struck by lightning at around 4 pm.
Dahal also said that the airport was closed due to loose wires of the tower and faulty runway (PAPI) lights.
Passengers waiting to go to Kathmandu from Bhairahawa Airport and those coming here are in trouble after the airport was closed.
