March 04, 2023: Jazeera Airlines of Kuwait will be resuming flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa (a newly built airport in Nepal), Nepal after a week-long hiatus. The airline announced that it will operate three flights a week to Kuwait, starting Thursday, February 25th. Jazeera Airways issued a press release stating that it will fly from Bhairahawa to Kuwait at 8:05 am local time every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Similarly, flights from Kuwait to Bhairahawa will operate on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11:50 pm. According to Ravichandran Singh, president of General Sales Agent Society International Travel Services of Nepal-based Jazeera Airways, the one-way fare from Bhairahawa to Kuwait is NPR 28,836.
Jazeera Airways has been serving Bhairahawa since the airport’s opening on May 2nd. However, the airline recently shifted its flights to Kathmandu due to adverse weather conditions. Despite the weather clearing up, there were doubts raised when Jazeera Airways did not resume flights. Jazeera’s decision to resume flights from Bhairahawa will provide a boost to the aviation sector in Nepal, which has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.
