Lee Myungkap, a Korean tourist who fell ill due to the high altitude during his trek at an altitude of 4040 meters, died on Wednesday. Police said that he was taken to Lukla for treatment but died on the way.
He fell ill while staying at Lodge. 46-year-old Lee went on the trek without a guide.
The government has a legal provision that every tourist cannot go on a trek without a guide. Ngawa Ngima Sherpa, a member of the Nepal Tourism Board, said that the wrong message is being sent to Nepal’s tourism sector as tourists are dying due to its non-implementation.
