October 02, Kathmandu: A team of climbers has reached Kumbhakarna Mountain to climb Kumbhakarna (Faktanglung) Mountain in Taplejung.A team of Americans is preparing to climb Kumbhakarna, the 32nd highest mountain in the world and the 14th highest in Nepal.
Foreign tourists have come to climb Kumbhakarna Himal after more than two years of tourist absence due to Covid-19. According to the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Management Council Office, a team including two Americans is preparing to climb Kumbhakarna (7710 m) in Faktanglung village of Taplejung.
According to Tansi Tenzing Sherpa, tourism assistant at the council’s office, preparations are being made to climb the mountain from Saturday this year. Sherpa said that work is underway to pave the way for the ascent and transport of the necessary materials. According to Sherpa, the team reached the mountain from Ghunsa via Khambachen and Kumbhakarna base camps.
Faktanglung-6 Lelep’s Ghunsa is considered to be the gateway to Kumbhakarna and Kanchenjunga mountain.
