October 03, 2022: Yesterday a huge avalanche hit Manaslu base camp which destroyed about three dozen tents.

As we reported one sherpa died in the avalanche while descending from Camp 2 to Camp 1. He has been identified as Dawa Chhiring Sherpa. He was experienced climber who climbed Manaslu five times, Everest six times, Cho Oyu twice, and Shishapangma once.

According to District Police Office Gorkha, three of the four people who were affected by the avalanche came into contact immediately and the Sherpa who was affected by the avalanche was found dead during the search after losing contact.According to the police, the body of the deceased Sherpa was brought to Samagaon by helicopter of Simrik Air and sent to the teaching hospital in Kathmandu.

Earlier this week, 13 climbers were hit by avalanche in same mountain. More than 400 climbers have obtained climbing permits this season. Due to risk of avalanche and snowfall many expedition organizing companies have ended their manaslu expedition for this year.
