January 06, 2023: Renowned Spanish alpinist Alex Txikon along with six sherpa climbers scaled Manaslu this morning at 9:30 (local time). The team was led by the experienced mountaineer Alex Txikon, who successfully reached the summit on his third winter attempt.
The team includes Alex Txikon (Leader), Tenjen Sherpa,Pasang Nurbu Sherpa, Mingtemba Sherpa, Chhepal Sherpa, Pemba Tasi Sherpa, Gyalu Sherpa. The team scaled Manaslu despite the extreme wind
Till date, Manaslu has received only five winter expeditions and a total of 22 people successfully summiting the peak in the winter season. Manaslu (8,163m) peak has not been summited in winter in over 20 years.
According to sources, Italian alpinist Simone Moro abandoned his climb after feeling unwell in the high camps.
After the unsuccessful attempt in 2021/22 winter, Alex Txikon and Simone Moro were back in Nepal for the Mt Manaslu winter expedition 2022/23.
