May 24, Solukhumbu: So far, 9,932 kg of garbage has been collected from the Everest region under the Clean Mountain Campaign-2022 led by Nepal Army. According to the Public Relations and Information Directorate of the Nepal Army, 30,345 kg of garbage has been collected from four mountains ( Mt Everest, Mt Lhotse, Mt Kangchenjunga, and Mt Manaslu )under the campaign which started on April 05.
Out of the collected garbage, 5,266 kg is decomposable and 25,078 kg is non-decomposable garbage, according to the army.
The army has collected 15,373 kg of garbage from Mount Kangchenjunga.
Collected decomposable garbage will be left in the Lower region of the Mountains and non-decomposable garbage will be sent to Kathmandu for the recycling process.
