OCT,18,2023: In the region surrounding the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, both domestic and international tourists are flocking in great numbers. The sight of the Himalayan mountains, including Everest, has been attracting more tourists to this area, and local businesses are thriving as a result.

Currently, there’s a significant increase in tourists heading to the Khumbu region. With the trekking season beginning, even tourism entrepreneurs have arrived in Lukla. Along the tourism route in places like Lukla, Jorsalle, Phakding, Namche, Khumjung, Tengboche, and others, hotel owners are busy welcoming tourists. According to hotel entrepreneur Namche Kaji Sherpa, hotel businesses are quite bustling right now.

In Lukla, more flights are operating, with Lukla Airport stating that there will be over 32 daily flights in a few days when the weather improves. As tourist numbers increase, customs and revenue employees in Lukla are keeping very busy. They are working diligently to process tourists’ entry and revenue collection, as informed by Nikunj, a customs officer.

With the growing influx of tourists, Lukla’s post office employees are also occupied. They are engaged in handling tourists’ mail and revenue collection. Sagarmatha National Park mentioned that nearly 300 tourists daily use Lukla as their starting point for trekking.

The office of the National Park, customs officer, has reported that there is a rising number of foreign tourists among those coming for tourism.
