June 02, Kathmandu: Tourist arrivals in Nepal have started declining with the end of the spring mountaineering season in Nepal. According to the Immigration Department, fewer tourists arrived in Nepal than the previous month (April).
According to the department, 53,608 tourists visited Nepal in the month of May which is 4 thousand 776 less than the previous month’s data. In April, 58,384 tourists visited Nepal. Last month, there was a significant increase in the number of mountain climbers. During the monsoon season in Nepal, tourist arrivals have been declining even under normal conditions.
According to the statistics of the department, 190 thousand 739 tourists have come to Nepal in the first five months of 2022. According to Maniraj Lamichhane, director of the Nepal Tourism Board, tourism arrivals have recovered by about 75 percent compared to 2019.
