May 13, 2023: A rope-fixing team successfully ascended Mount Everest from the Nepalese side on Saturday afternoon. Officials at the base camp relayed the information that a team from Imagine Nepal Treks reached the summit of Mount Everest at 1:52 pm, becoming the first climbers of the season to accomplish this feat. Mingma Gyalje Sherpa, the Managing Director of Imagine Nepal Treks, stated that the team, led by IFMGA guide Dawa Gyalje Sherpa, faced significant challenges in reaching the summit, as they had to install ropes from Camp II.

The rope-fixing team consisted of Dawa Gyalje Sherpa (leader) from Rolwaling, Ngima Nuru Sherpa from Thame, Lakpa Sherpa (Lakpa Sona) from Thame, Dipen Gurung from Sankhuwasabha, Pasang Ngima Sherpa from Phortse, Lhakpa Tenjing Sherpa from Thame, Phur Galjen Sherpa from Thame, Dawa (da) Jangbu Sherpa from Thame, and Suman Gurung from Gorkha, who served as the photographer. Mingma G, who coordinated the rope-fixing task from the base camp, provided this information. More than 470 climbers from around the world, along with their support staff, have been patiently waiting for favorable weather conditions to attempt to summit Mount Everest after acclimatizing in the Khumbu region for over a month. These climbers have also engaged in camp rotations to prepare themselves for the final ascent.

“With the opening of the new route by the rope-fixing team, climbers from around the world, along with their high-altitude workers, can now proceed with their summit attempts on Mount Everest,” Mingma G stated. Imagine Nepal Treks has been appointed by the Expedition Operator Association Nepal to install ropes on Mount Everest for this season.
