April,03,2024: A team of climbers from Spain and Nepal has achieved the season’s first summit atop Himlung Himal, a towering peak above 7,000 meters in the far western region. Led by Spanish climber Miguel Madrid Lopez, along with Dipen Gurung and Angdu Sherpa, they reached the summit around 3:00 pm on Monday, as reported by Mingma Gyalje Sherpa, Managing Director at Imagine Nepal Treks.

This season, Miguel led the only team attempting to conquer the 7,216-meter peak. Initially, Miguel was accompanied by his partner Mary Roca, along with Dipen, Angdu, and Pemba Chhiri Sherpa. However, Mary and Pemba Chhiri decided to abandon their ascent from Camp III.

After a week of rest in Kathmandu, Miguel plans to undertake another expedition to Mt Kanchenjunga. Notably, Miguel has already conquered Mt Everest and K2. Mingma Gyalje Sherpa confirmed that all climbers have safely descended to the base camp.
