March 04, 2023: On Saturday afternoon, four boats were overturned by strong winds in Phewa Lake at Pokhara, Nepal, according to the Ward Police Office in Baidam. Ved Joshi, Deputy Superintendent of Police, informed that one person was injured in the incident. The storm caused two boats and four single-person kayaks to capsize, leading to the drowning of ten individuals in the lake. A rescue team, including divers from the Phewatal Rescue Tower of the Armed Police Force, immediately arrived at the scene to rescue those who had fallen into the water. Fortunately, nine people were safely rescued.

Sadly, one elderly woman who was injured during the boat accident passed away. According to DSP Shravan Kumar Vick of the District Police Office, 70-year-old Yammaya Giri from Pokhara-1, died in the evening while receiving treatment at the Gandaki Health Institute. The tragic incident serves as a reminder to take caution while boating during adverse weather conditions.
