January 05, 2023: Tourists in the highest peak Everest region have increased by 70 percent. According to the statistics from the Sagarmatha National Park Namche office, 7,464 tourists visited Khumbu in the first five months of the last financial year, while 2,529 people visited Khumbu during the same period of the current financial year.
Among the foreign tourists visiting, 1,990 are from SAARC countries and 10,863 are from other countries, according to the statistics of the park. The park has collected Rs 3 crore 55 lakhs 77 thousand 176 revenue from tourist entry fees in five months. An entry fee of Rs 3,000 per tourist is charged from foreign tourists, while an entry fee of Rs 1,500 is charged from citizens of SAARC countries and Rs 100 from Nepalese.
Established in 2032, Sagarmatha National Park is spread over ​​1,148 square kilometers. In this national park located in the Solukhumbu district of eastern Nepal, Mount Everest is the world’s highest peak, it is also home to snow peaks such as Lhotse, Nuptse, Cho Oyu Lhotsesar, Pumori, Amadablam, Thamserku.
