November 23, Kathmandu: A Nepal Airlines TwinAir flight from Kathmandu to Chaurjahari Airport in Rukum made a night stop at Nepalgunj on Monday evening. The plane was stopped at Nepalgunj after the pilot’s ‘duty hour’ was over. Passengers have expressed dissatisfaction with this.
The Ministry of Tourism has demanded an explanation from the pilot who landed the flight from Tribhuvan Airport to Rukum in Nepalgunj.
According to airlines sources, the twin-engine aircraft carrying eight passengers flew from Tribhuvan Airport to Chaurajahari Airport in Rukum on Monday at 3 o’clock.
According to Nepal airlines, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) have set a time limit for pilots to fly up to 10 hours or 10 landings a day.
If a pilot flies a plane beyond that time, both the airlines and the pilot will be prosecuted by the regulatory body.
