December 22, Kathmandu: In the tourist destination Dhorpatan area, there is a lot of potential for skiing adventure sports. In the recent past, Nepal has been becoming a fast-paced destination for adventure skiing tourism. Under the Dhorpatan Reserve, the only hunting reserve in Nepal, skiing can be played commercially around the Dhorpatan Valley.
As geography is many times more exciting and adventurous in Nepal than skiing in Europe and America, skiing is now expanding in the mountainous and high mountain areas of Nepal. A survey by an expert has shown that there is a lot of potential in the game of slipping in the snow.
A recent study by a group of mountaineering and Himalayan trekking experts jointly by the Nepal Mountaineering Training Institute and the Nepal National Mountaineering Pathfinder Association has revealed the potential for skiing near the Dhorpatan Valley.
Chiring Jangbu Sherpa, an international mountain guide and board member of the Nepal Mountain Training Institute, said that there is a possibility of skiing in Dhorpatan not only in winter but also during the rainy season.” There is a possibility of skiing on the slopes of land north of Dhorpatan Valley. Since the place is not very sunny and cold, artificial ice can be made,” he said.”Our group’s study has shown that there is snow in the area for some time in winter, and other times it is very cold, so the game can be played by making man-made snow. We will submit a detailed feasibility study report to the government shortly.”
Since 2015, Nepal Mountaineering Training Institute and Nepal National Mountaineering Pathfinder Association have been jointly developing ski sports feasibility, ski training, sports production, and ski tourism in the mountainous and high mountain areas of Nepal.
The Nepal Mountain Training Institute has stated that there is a lot of potential for adventure tourism along with skiing and sports as Dhorpatan Valley is a very cold place.
