January 03, Pokhara: A ‘Summer Ski’ festival is to be held at Mardi Himal in Kaski which has been developing as a popular destination lately. The objective of the festival is to develop summer ski sport by promoting internal and external tourists.

Prabhat Adhikari, a member of the Sustainable Himalayan Fund, informed that the Ski Festival will be held from February 10 to 18. The festival is named the Great Himalayan Ski Tour. Chairman of the organizing body Ram Bahadur Thapa said that the festival is being organized with the training and facilitation of international ski instructor Krishna Thapa Magar. The festival has been co-sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Industry of Gandaki Province, Nepal Mountaineering Association, TAAN, Gandaki Alpine Club, and others.

According to organization members, the organization has conducted ski training in the Langtang area six times and also completed the Downhill Ski Campaign in other places.

The organizers are confident that the festival will promote domestic tourism and develop it as a new sport in Nepal’s tourism.
