January 14, Kathmandu: Three Nepali Sherpa brothers have successfully climbed the highest mountain in Antarctica. Mt.Vinson(4,892 m).At 6:30 pm Chile time on January 13, brothers Mingma, Chhangdawa, and Tasilakpa Sherpa, who are also record-breaking climbers, climbed Mount Vinson, Antarctica’s highest mountain, all at once.

The team had also skied to the South Pole (90°S- Last Degree) on January 2, now becoming the first three siblings to complete the journey: ski to the South pole and climb Mt Vinson.

Mingma Sherpa, Chhang Dawa Sherpa, and Tashi Lakpa Sherpa of Makalu village in Sankhuwasabha district left Kathmandu for Antarctica on December 13.

Mt Vinson, the highest peak in Antarctica Continent and in the South Pole, is recognized as the Geographic South Pole or Terrestrial South Pole and is one of the two points where Earth’s axis of rotation intersects its surface.
