October 27, 2022: Domestic and foreign tourists have started arriving in the Kanchenjunga region, the third-highest peak in the world. Sherpa, a tourism businessman, said that tourism businessmen are excited by the arrival of tourists in the Kanchenjunga area, which has been deserted for a long time.
The tourism business is the primary source of income for the communities in the high mountain settlements like Kapla, Phale, Ghunsa, Khabajen, and Lonak in the Kanchenjunga area.
According to the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Management Council, 52 hotels are operating on the route to the base camp of Kanchenjunga mountain. Two routes are being used to reach the base camp of Kanchenjunga. Tourists go to the base camp of Kanchenjunga through Sirijunga Rural Municipality of Taplejung this route is also known as the south route.
According to Suryaman Rai, tourism assistant of the Management Council’s Yamphudin office last week, seven tourists from France, two from Britain, and one from India entered the Kanchenjunga region. He said, “Even today, a group of 16 people is coming.
Another route is the north route Kalpana Tammaden, the tourism assistant of the Tapethok office of the Management Council, said that 60 foreign tourists entered the Kanchenjunga area only last week through the north Route.
According to Ghunsa Checkpost, foreign tourists from Spain, France, Australia, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Romania, USA, Poland, and India have entered the base camp of Kanchenjunga.
