December 20, 2022: A total of 81 foreign tourists have travelled from Gautam Buddha International Airport located in Bhairawa in the last seven months.Gautam Buddha International Airport is newly built Nepal’s second International Airport.
45 foreign tourists have entered and 36 have left the airport, which has been in commercial operation since several months.According to Anup KC, head of the immigration office at the airport, most tourists came from the Philippines, Egypt, Pakistan, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Britain, Bangladesh, and Saudi Arabia.He said, “In the short time that the airport has been in operation, the traffic of tourists from third countries is increasing in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha.Lately, along with Buddhist tourists, tourists from Europe and other countries have started coming directly to Lumbini.
According to the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority, 92 international flights have landed from this airport in the last six months.Currently, two airlines are providing international air services at the airport. 11,029 passengers, including domestic ones, have entered and 9,954 passengers have left.
