Aug 17, 2023: Tourists are flocking to the Khumbu region, where the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, is situated. Currently, even foreign tourists are seen bustling around Khumbu, and Tenzing Hillary Airport in Lukla has become a major point of entry for them. Kiran Gautam, the chief officer at Lukla’s Tenzing Hillary Airport, provided this information. As the tourist season begins, foreign travelers have started exploring the Khumbu area, according to him. This influx of tourists, both local and international, has led to an increase in passenger traffic at the airport.

According to his statement, there have been four flights to Lukla today alone. About 60 passengers have reached their destination through these flights. Even though the number of passengers departing from Lukla is currently zero, the Civil Aviation Authority of Lukla has reported an increase in the number of arriving passengers. Yesterday, Tara Airlines had three flights, and Sita Air had one flight, bringing a total of 50 passengers to Khumbu.

He also mentioned that among the arriving passengers, there are both local residents and foreign tourists, as well as domestic travelers.
