October 20, Kathmandu: Four Slovenians, three guides, and five locals on a trek to Hilsa and Limi in the northern Namkha village of Humla have been stranded in Tumling in the Limi region due to heavy snowfall since Sunday.

Chief District Officer Ganesh Acharya informed that they were forced to stop after heavy snowfall on Sunday night which prevented them from returning from Tumling to Simkot.

Twelve people, including foreigners, were stranded when the road to Nyalu Lake in Limi of Namkha Village Municipality-6 was blocked due to snowfall.

The team had gone to Simkot via Hilsa on October 08 and after the trek, the team was scheduled to reach Simkot on foot via Nyalu Lake.

The team had to stop there due to heavy snowfall in Nyalu Lake due to heavy snowfall since Sunday.

Paljor Tamang, Ward Chairman of Namkha Gaonpalika-6, said that the road was closed due to more than three feet of snowfall in Nyalu Lake.

The rescue operation could not be carried out on Wednesday due to bad weather.
