December 02, 2022:Climbers are revealing their winter plans as the winter starts in the Himalayas.
Cho Oyu
Gelje Sherpa along with his team is attempting to open a new commercial route on the Cho Oyu Nepal side this winter also. This is not the first try they already tried before but did not succeed. Kristin Harila and Adriana Brownlee are on the team too.
Kristin Harila wrote I guess it’s official We are back in Nepal and back to business. Cho Oyu Winter from Nepal side We both knew we had to come back to the ‘Turquoise Goddess’ and show the world how strong we female climbers really are Myself and Adri, along with a small team of incredible Sherpas led by Gelje Sherpa. On Sunday we will fly to Lukla and begin our trek in to Cho Oyu Base Camp (Thame side)
Another team has not announced any winter expeditions on Cho Oyu so far.
Manaslu
Simone Moro is in Nepal. After some initial acclimatizing in the Khumbu Valley, he will again head to winter Manaslu this season also. Over the last two winters, Moro has shared expedition logistics with Alex Txikon. This year Txikon is also currently in Nepal leading two trekking groups near Makalu but Simone Moro has not yet shared further details, including who will he climb with.
Ama Dablam
Ama Dablam is also open till January 2023. Climbers are also attempting Ama Dablam.
Jost Kobusch is not attempting Everest this season.
