May 19, 2023: Norwegian mountaineer Kristin Harila has made history once again by successfully scaling Mt. Kanchenjunga, marking her fourth conquest of the 14 peaks above 8,000 meters. In an extraordinary endeavor, Harila aimed to accomplish this feat in less than six months.

Thaneswar Guragai, Manager of Expedition Organizer, confirmed the news of Harila, stating that the record-breaking climber, accompanied by Tenjen (Lama) Sherpa and Gelu Sherpa reached the summit at approximately 12:45 pm today.

on April 26, Harila climbed Mt. Shishapangma as her first conquest. Following her ascent in Tibet, she then conquered Mt. Cho Oyu. Most recently, on May 15, Harila reached the summit of Mt. Makalu.

Kristin Harila, known for holding multiple fastest climbing records, has already earned the title of the first woman climber to achieve the fastest ascent of all 14 8000’er.

Harila’s record-setting journey began on April 28, 2022, with her ascent of Mt. Annapurna I, the tenth-highest peak in the world. She continued her relentless pursuit, reaching the summit of Mt. Manaslu on September 22, 2022, thus completing her 12th 8,000-meter peak in less than five months. Thaneswar Guragai shared his excitement for Harila’s ongoing expedition, stating that she will now proceed with conquering the remaining 10 mountains she had previously scaled last year.

As the world watches in awe, Kristin Harila has not only proven her physical strength and endurance but has also become an inspiration to aspiring climbers around the globe.
