May 06, 2024: A team of expert guides conquered the peak of Lhotse (8,516m) on Monday evening while setting up the route to the summit.

Seven Summit Treks, entrusted with securing the route, reported that seven of its seasoned climbing guides reached the summit at 9:30 pm local time. Leading the team of rope fixers was Dendi Sherpa. Joining him were Tenging Gyalgen Sherpa, Namgel Tamang, Pam Dorjee Sherpa, Pemba Tashi Sherpa, Dawa Sherpa, and Tashi Sherpa.

At the base camp, hundreds of climbers eagerly await their turn to ascend the world’s fourth-highest peak this season. The Department of Tourism has granted 130 climbing permits for Lhotse during this spring season.

The rope fixing team initiated the route up to the South Col or Camp IV (7950m) on April 28. However, the fixing process faced delays as the icefall doctors encountered challenges in navigating through the Khumbu icefall.
