November 15, 2022: Two climbers from the Russian team have summited Annapurna IV. On Nov 13 Sasha Eliseev and Andrey Dergachev summited Annapurna IV at around 2 pm local time.

Afanasiev wrote on social media, On Nov 09 “We launched the final summit push on November 9, setting some 400m of rope. However, we ran out of time and returned to the caves.” On Nov 10 They rested in a cave, On Nov 11 they resumed and set Camp 5 at an altitude of 7140m, On Nov 12 due to strong they returned to 7140m and they summited on Nov 13. The next day they descend to the base camp. The day before the ascent, Oleg Afanasiev, together with Alexander Eliseev, reached the mark of 7140 meters. Oleg Afanasiev was evacuated to the hospital with frozen fingers and toes accompanied by Gena Dolgov.

The rest of the team did not manage to climb to the top. A team of 14 Russian climbers set out on the Annapurna IV route on 23 October. 

More details are yet to come whether they opened a new route or followed in the footprints of previous east face teams.
