Sep 29,2023: In a remarkable feat of determination and endurance, Canadian climber Liliya Ianovskaia has etched her name in mountaineering history. At the age of 64, she reached the pinnacle of Mt. Dhaulagiri, standing tall at 8,167 meters, at approximately 10:18 am. This remarkable achievement not only made her the first Canadian woman to accomplish this daunting task but also secured her position as the oldest female to successfully scale Mt. Dhaulagiri.

Liliya was joined by fellow climbers Mingma Dorchi Sherpa and Pem Nurbu Sherpa, who accompanied her to the summit. Their successful ascent of Mt. Dhaulagiri this morning marked a historic moment in the world of mountaineering.

Liliya Ianovskaia’s accomplishments extend beyond this latest triumph. Last year, she became the oldest person to conquer K2, the second-highest peak on the planet. In a remarkable display of her mountaineering prowess, she has now conquered seven peaks towering above 8,000 meters, an elite group that includes Dhaulagiri, Lhotse, Manaslu, Mt. Everest, K2, and Gasherbrum II.

Pemba Sherpa of 8K Expeditions proudly shared, “Including her recent victory on Dhaulagiri, this year alone, Liliya has conquered Manaslu, Mt. Everest, K2, and Gasherbrum II with us.” Liliya’s impressive climbing journey began in 2019, and since then, she has added Cho Oyu, Manaslu, Everest, K2, Gasherbrum II, Lhotse, and Dhaulagiri to her list of triumphant conquests.

Liliya Ianovskaia’s indomitable spirit and unwavering determination continue to inspire climbers and adventurers worldwide, proving that age is no obstacle when it comes to reaching the highest summits on Earth.
