March,16,2024: A Korean trekker, identified as Hyunchal Swang, aged around 47, lost his life in the Everest region after a fatal fall, as confirmed by the District Police Office. Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Shrestha disclosed that Swang slipped and fell at Khumbu Pasang Lhamu rural municipality-4 on March 11 while descending from the Island Peak climb. He fell approximately two meters from the trail.
DSP Shrestha further informed that Swang’s body was airlifted to Lukla and subsequently transferred to the TU Teaching Hospital, Kathmandu, following necessary legal procedures for a post-mortem examination. Swang had arrived in Khumbu on March 11 under the Atex Company’s mountaineering expedition.
