October 06, 2023: Climbers have made history on Cho Oyu with at least 11 successful summits this morning, according to the organizers. Nima Rinji Sherpa has become the youngest climber to conquer his 10th peak above 8,000 meters at the age of 17 by scaling Cho Oyu.

Pakistani climber Shehroze Kashif also achieved a historic feat by climbing 13 peaks at just 21 years old, as reported by Sherpa. Nima Rinji, a multiple record holder from Makalu, Sangkhuwasabha, along with other climbers, including Shehroze, reached the summit of the 8,188-meter peak around 4:30 a.m. “Pasang Nurbu Sherpa and Mingtemba Sherpa accomplished this without using supplemental oxygen.

Nepali climber Gelje Sherpa successfully guided his climbing partner, British woman Adriana Brownlee, to the summit of Cho Oyu. According to him, Gelje completed his 14th peak, while Adriana reached her 13th peak above 8,000 meters.

Taiwanese woman climber Tseng Ko Erh, also known as Grace, completed her 13th peak by standing atop the mountain along with Lakpa Nuru Sherpa and Dawa Nurbu Sherpa this morning, as relayed by Chhang Dawa from the base camp.

Among the climbers, Polish climber Dorota Lidia and Russian woman Alina Pekova also successfully scaled Cho Oyu as part of their mission to conquer all 14 peaks.

Weather permitting, the Cho Oyu team will proceed directly to Shishapangma Basecamp and then ascend to the top.
