April 19, Kathmandu: Umbrella organizations related to the tourism business have demanded the government make arrangements for issuing e-visa in Nepal.

The Immigration Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs had issued a notice to the tourists visiting Nepal to bring cash as there was a problem in withdrawing Nepali Rupees equal to dollars from the ATM at Tribhuvan International Airport to collect on arrival visa fee.

Stating that this has highlighted the weakness of tourism service flow, the businessmen said that e-visa can be issued as an alternative. They said that instead of rectifying the general weakness, the cumbersome arrangement of bringing cash to the tourists visiting Nepal would make the tourists more negative towards Nepal and also reduce the credit towards our structure.

The Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN), Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA) issued a joint statement on Monday.

They also drew the attention of the government to work in a way to facilitate tourist arrivals by adding structures including ATM machines at Tribhuvan Airport.
