April 19,2023: During the first nine months of the current fiscal year, a total of 37,467 tourists have visited the Khumbu region with the purpose of touring the Sagarmatha (Mount Everest) area. This information has been reported by the office of Sagarmatha National Park, which oversees the region. These tourists come from various countries and have come to observe Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world, and the surrounding Khumbu region.

Out of the total number of tourists, 29,467 were foreign tourists, while 4,816 were Nepali tourists. It is interesting to note that out of the foreign tourists, 3,185 were from the SAARC countries, while the remaining 29,467 were from other countries around the world. This information has been gathered from the Nat office.

Khumbu is considered a tourist municipality among the 753 local levels in Nepal, and it is making efforts to increase the number of tourists in the coming years. The local government is focusing on improving the management of tourist areas, including policies to ensure the safety of tourists and the integration of management areas. This is all in an effort to achieve their goal of doubling the number of tourists that visit the region in the coming years.
