March 21, 2023: Tragedy struck the Khumbu region of Solukhumbu district on Monday night as a 68-year-old Slovakian tourist, Pohun Ska, lost his life due to a lack of oxygen (altitude Sickness). The tourist was visiting the Gorakshep area of Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality-4 when the incident occurred.

According to reports, the tourist was touring the region when he suddenly fell ill due to a lack of oxygen. Sadly, this incident has not been the only challenge faced by those in the Khumbu region recently. The communication services in the region have also been affected by the snowfall, making it even more challenging for authorities to respond quickly to emergencies.

These challenges highlight the risks and dangers associated with high-altitude tourism and the importance of taking proper precautions when traveling to these areas. The Khumbu region is famous for its stunning natural beauty and attracts thousands of tourists each year, but visitors must be aware of the potential dangers and take steps to minimize the risks.

The authorities in the region are working hard to ensure the safety of tourists and locals alike, but incidents like these serve as a stark reminder of the importance of being prepared and taking necessary precautions. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the Slovakian tourist who lost his life, and to those working hard to keep the Khumbu region safe and accessible for all who visit.
