January 02, 2023: David Goettler and Herve Barmasse have revealed their winter 8000er. They are attempting Dhaulagiri in Alpine style.

The climbers are preparing to fly to Base Camp as soon as the weather allows.

To better acclimatize at high altitudes, during the last days they spent some days in Khumbu valley and climbed the island peak. After completing acclimatization they returned to Kathmandu.

Dhaulagiri 8,167 meters (26,795 ft)  is the seventh-highest mountain in the world.

Dhaulagiri was first climbed in winter by a 1985 Polish expedition led by Adam Bilczewski.
