A Danish Climber dies at Makalu base camp

October 24, Sankhuwasabha: A foreign tourist has died at Makalu Base Camp in Makalu Gaonpalika-2 of Sankhuwasabha district Nepal.

Henrik Adersen of Denmark died at the Makalu base camp, said Shubhesh Adhikari, Inspector of Police, District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha.

The District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha has confirmed that he has reached the base camp to climb the world’s fifth highest mountain, Makalu.

According to the district police office, Henrik Adersen died Just above Makalu Base Camp on Saturday afternoon.

A team of 10 people including three foreign tourists had gone to Makalu base camp via Taplejung on October 11.

Rescue of a Nepali including two foreigners trapped in the snow

One Nepali along with two foreign tourists trapped in the Makalu base camp has been rescued safely. Two Danish nationals and a Nepali were rescued by a helicopter in the afternoon, police said.

Neeraj Karki, who reached Kathmandu through rescue, said that an initiative was being taken to rescue six other Nepali nationals trapped in the snow at Makalu Base Camp.

According to Karki, the deceased along with six Nepali nationals, Henrik Adersen of Denmark, are still at the Makalu base camp.
