October 06, 2022: Norwegian climber Kristin Harila is aiming to scale all 14 peaks above 8000 meters in a short period of time. She must complete it by November 02 to break Nirmal Purja’s record. She has summited 12 8,000’ers in 147 days. Cho Oyu and Shishapangma are left.
She is now attempting to Cho Oyu from the Nepal side due to the permit issue to enter china. Last year two different teams tried to open the route of Cho Oyu from the Nepal side but did not succeed. Cho Oyu’s normal route is from the China side.
She is attempting Cho Oyu along with Gelje Sherpa and Adriana Brownlee other sherpa will also accompany them.
She hopes to climb Shishapangma which is in Tibet in the last hour if she gets permitted.”Norwegian authorities and helpers around the world can convince Chinese authorities to give me a chance to set a spectacular record in mountaineering” She wrote on social media.
